Upon arrival Heho airport, transfer to Pindaya cave, home to thousands of Buddhist images, made from alabaster, teak, marble, lacquer and even cement, which have been placed here over the centuries to create a labyrinth through the hills. Later, visit a Shan umbrella workshop before heading to Kalaw, a former British hill station located at an altitude of 1,320m (4,330ft) above sea level.

Arrive in Kalaw, check in and overnight in Kalaw.

Trekking 12km 7-8hrs

After breakfast get ready for a trekking day to the mountain.

Depart for a 15 minute trip to the starting point of the mountain trek. Start trekking through vegetable farms and damson plantations where they locally make wine from the fruits of the region.

Next, visit the village of Danu tribes, the locals live on farming rice and vegetables and visit an old beautiful wooden Buddhist monastery. Continue walking for 2.5 hours through shady forest with amazing views and visit tea plantations on the mountain slopes along the way to Pein Ne Pin village, where we will have lunch with a Palaung family.  Silver Palaung tribes live in this village and we can learn about their culture, nature and traditions. They have colourful traditional costumes and interesting traditions. After lunch, wander around the village and visit the Buddhist Nuns monastery then trek for 1.5 hours through orange farms and beautiful Shan mountain with tea plantations before reaching the meeting point and transfer to your hotel in Kalaw.

Kalaw - Nyaung Shwe (65km) 2hrs

Breakfast & check out. Transfer to Nyaung Shwe which is the entrance to Inle Lake. On the way, make a stop at the Shwe Younghwe Kyaung Monastery, a Shan Monastery which is very different in construction and style from all the religious sites we have seen so far.

Later, proceed to the red mountain vineyard where lunch will be served followed by a local wine testing.

Afterwards, proceed to the local pier then board the wooden boat for a private trip to your hotel. The boat will drive through the floating gardens, observing en-route the beautiful surroundings including the daily activities of the local fishermen, especially the famous leg-rowers who display remarkable balance in using just one leg to propel their boats. Check -in your hotel and rest of the day at leisure.
